Data Profile Functions in Informatica

You can add multiple profile functions to a data profile. Profile functions are calculations you perform on the source data that return information about various characteristics of the source data. When you add a function to a data profile, you can choose from the following types of functions:

Source-level functions
Performs calculations on two or more columns in a source, source group, or mapplet group. For example, you can evaluate a business rule for groups in an XML source.

Column-level functions
Performs calculations on one column of a source. For example, you can evaluate the data in a column to find patterns that frequently occur in the data.

Intersource functions
Performs calculations on two or more sources. These functions generate information about the relationship between the sources. For example, you might compare the values of columns in two sources to determine the percentage of identical data that appears in both sources. Each function type has a subset of functionality that you can configure when you add a function to the data profile.
